So, you need highlights and you want to look natural, glossy and gently streaked - go to see Tika at Emmanuel F.
The best bit: Getting highlights in Hong Kong can be a tricky business. You really need to find someone that is both artistically and technically confident and that comes from education and experience. Tika, originally from Nepal, has been directly trained by Emmanuel F. himself from France. She therefore combines his exclusive technique (gentle gliding of highlight rather than the more rigid old school foils) giving the most natural result. Also, another thing that is great is that she gives really good at home styling advice. Tika appreciates the whole package of beauty, so she really considers your skin colour and style when doing your hair.
The salon is also the ONLY fully organic hair salon in Hong Kong and therefore you can do your bit for the environment whilst protecting your body.
However, despite its organic policy, this is no hippie den:) Instead the sleek design and fittings are all artfully presented to make you relax and feel in safe hands. The shampoo area is darkened and cool, and lit only by beautiful fairy lights on the ceiling whist chillout music hums in the background. You can relax as the massage chair below you does its work. Then, whilst being cut and coloured you can watch DVDs from your own personal screen - that's if you can tear yourself away from OK, Hello and British Vogue! Yey!
Any improvements: Emmanuel F is really busy especially at weekends, so get booked in to guarantee you that 'fresh out of the salon' feeling.
Review: I had a restyle and colour done by Severine. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Severine did a great cut- very clever and flattering- my best for ages. The colour they use is very shiney and looks natural except for being so glossy. The atmosphere is relaxing. It's expensive, but I'll happily come back
Review: I have been doing the organic hair color dye since 2 years now and I can tell that the results are really amazing. Long lasting shine and color with improved hair quality and perfect coverage. When the color fades the grey hair are not really visible meaning you do not see the root hairline marked as it used to be the case with standard hair coloring products.
I will definitively keep on using this method to dye my hair beautifully and in an harmless way in the future. Thank you.
Review: Hello - this looks like a good review though particularly now (with the current recession) I would like to know an approximate price. I have heard of people paying 2.5K in Central to have their hair tinted etc. My current salon is around 1,100 HKD for cut/roots and highlights and they don't do a bad job but occasionally I think the tone is not quite right. I would love to try a 'Central' posh hairdresser but I cannot afford thousands particularly since roots need re-doing regularly as do the highlights.
Review: I went to Emmanuel F. last Saturday and really enjoyed the good service, relaxing head massage, the massage chair. The haircut I got is very versatile which is not easy to accomplish with my sleek hair. Thanks again to Severine!
Review: I tried this hairdresser a couple of weeks ago and she did a fantastic job!! The cotton wool scared me to start with, as I couldn't imagine it would work - but lo & behold it turned out lovely!
Review: Thanks for the idea. I need a new hairdresser urgently. Someone recently highlighted my hair and it just looks so bad I must change it but just didnt know where to go that was 'safe' it you know what I mean. Cheers!
Review: Tika did my hair recently. She spent a lot of time with me and Iliked my hair better afterwards. Not a huge change but enough for a few people to say I looked good. I went to Tony and Guy before but now I will switch there I think. More relaxing and about the same price. Thank you!
