Chuan Spa at the Langham Place Hotel, Hong Kong
Get your elements straightened out with some spa therapy here :) Think Chinese, think zen, think being healthy. Culture and pampering in one. Waaayy more fun than any Mandarin class.
The best bit:
The Chuan Spa bases all of it's treatments on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). I'm really into TCM after having done lots of research and testing
and so far have found it to be very effective. Something that has been around for as long as it has must be working - and Chinese people aren't known for
liking to waste their time. Their massages are the business - the best of both proper acupressure whilst in a beautiful and relaxing environment -
an unusual balance even in HK. For the best value, book a package and have a massage, facial and perhaps scrub together for a major overhaul.
They've also got a Vichy Shower, the perfect follow up to a massage by hand - which I love. For those of you that are Vichy Virgins (ha) this is where you get to remain on the massage bed which is also fitted with fine shower sprays
which wash you down from top to toe in a rhythmic slightly pummelling fashion. Much better than getting up to shower off between treatments and
really refreshing. I always feel a bit lightheaded after one of these showers.
The worst bit:
I don't often go in that direction but it is worth a trip for the real Asian Spa experience. This is what HK should really be the leaders at,
rather than ignoring their fabulous health history in favour of mode 'modern' treatments.

This place looks much better in real life than in the pictures. Really a relaxing spa, loved the music. |

I was visiting my friend who suggested Fanny. The backheads on my nose really needed work and she really blasted them hard - with mo marks though! I felt so clean afterwards. I never had such a facial. Usually I think they are a waste of time, but this really made me look better for around 2 weeks. Wish I was in HK and I would go regularly! She also has some good products which are expensive (big bottle around 600 hkd for an astringent) but are REALLY good and have been keeping my skin in check. |
